Okay, so you all know the boy has been fighting a cold right? Well the congestion has pretty much gone away...but the nasty mood and sleeplessness has stuck around. He's just been a little extra spicy these days and waking up a little more often throughout the night. Not hard to get back to sleep, but still...kinda messes with MY whole sleep mojo if you know what I mean.
Well today, my dad came over for dinner (my mom is out of town galivanting with friends) and he was holding Adam in his lap, and I was tickling and making him laugh when I inadvertently got my finger caught in his mouth which he immediately latched onto and started gnawing away. And that's when I felt it...the little ridge of TOOTH sticking out of his bottom gum. DUDE - the boy is not even 5 months old yet and he's already getting a tooth? Is that normal?
He's been cramming anything and everything he can get his hands on into his mouth, so I've been freezing washcloths and teethers like crazy - but everyone has been telling me that's just the way it goes at this age...it doesn't necessarily mean he's actually getting a tooth.
but HELLOOO - there is a tooth in there!
It's allllll making sense now...

Kristen- clearly we need to review lesson #1 in the parenting 101 handbook: 'normal' is relative, all babies are different. Whatever your kid is doing is defined as YOUR OWN personal normal.
With that being said, Paige had her first tooth at 3 months, and 10at 10 months. While, DBD being a mere 7 days younger only had 1.
Yea for the first tooth, be thankful you're not breastfeeding ;)
ugh..I accidentally typed 'kristen', my apologies (it happens to be Paige's new teacher's name and I just sent her an e-mail)...
Sorry
WOW!!! I am seriously behind in my blog reading. Love the cute baby pictures. A couple comments...Joanna is so right about "normal" P got her first tooth at 3 months and D got her first tooth at 8 months. P has lost 3 at this point and D has lost none. Also...about the head size, when we took RED in for her one year check up the nurse measured her head and then the doctor came in and re-measured it. When it was the same number as the nurses he made us schedule an appointment for four weeks later for a re-check. Her head was so big that he thought she might have hydrocephalus. NOPE...just a HUGE head! D has one too. No turtle necks in this family :-)
a TOOTH!!! you were right all along :) i think you never should question your motherly instinct because it has been RIGHT ON every time!
SAME thing happened to me with Henry. At about four months, he was crazy fussy and I couldn't figure it out...until I felt the nub of a TOP tooth! Crazier thing was that it went back up (apparently that happens) and he didn't cut his first (bottom) tooth until he was like 8 months old! So, there you have it. There is no normal.
Wow! Big boy has a tooth already! Ah man! It's all down hill from here. Ha. Just kidding. What a big moment! How very exciting! I hope his "spicy" attitude goes away soon. That's no fun. Aren't those little teeth sharp? Watch out!
