Our Zoo

Georgia's ears are doing a funny thing lately...one sticks up and one folds over. We've been told that at her age, they'll probably stay like that unless we train them otherwise.

Isn't that hilarious??

I guess some people either tape popsicle sticks to dogs ears until they stand up straight....or you can wrap them for a few weeks so they fold over. We didn't like the thought of doing that to her ears, just seemed kinda mean to be so concerned about her looks....so we decided to just let her be herself....quirky ears for a quirky dog! We think it matches her personality and gives her character...very clumsy and one-of-a-kind :)

We took her to hubster's parents house last weekend because we had a wedding to go to, and things went VERY well considering they are not especially animal people. They had it in their head that she was going to rip up their couches and pee all over the place...so I think they were really surprised that she didn't have any accidents, and didn't chew on anything she wasn't supposed to...hubs and I were all puffed up like proud parents over that one. His neices came over to meet her and stayed the entire time we were at the wedding. When we came home we were informed that she was "plumb wore out" by those girls...and when we walked into our bedroom, this is what we saw...

She pretty much slept the entire rest of the night...ha!

****

I finally snapped a decent picture of our Jackson kitty - he always looks like he's wearing eyeliner to me...sometimes we call him "The Sphinx"

and here's my Tweaker (who is almost 20 pounds thankyouverymuch)

"Get that camera out of my face woman, before I bite you"

Every afternoon when I get home...and come to think of it, every time I go into the kitchen...I find My Tiny in one distinct spot in the house:

On the butcher block table next to the stove....right next to....

The "Tub O' Treats" - OF COURSE.

He starts meowing and rubbing against it...and looking at me all wistful as if I've STARVED him all day long...

The little scavenger is hard at work...hahaa

Jackson is our screamer....he screams when he hears hub's car in the driveway...he screams when we're sitting at the computer...he screams when we're climbing into bed...he screams if any other cat gets attention...he screams when T comes over....screams, screams, screams...

And finally - my tomatoes have basically doubled since we went out of town...

and I have about 5 that are red and ready to be picked! YUM!

Another Friday Jumble of Oddball stuff

Pretty much every time I enter the bathroom, I have two furry friends who join me and decide that the sink is their very own personal water fountain

I'm telling you, I could be brushing my teeth, and they will literally shove me out of the way - I've accidentally spit on Tweak's head at least a few times.

Well this morning, my Tiny decided to give me another photo op...

He's decided that it's his job to sit on the puppy potty pad I have in the bathroom. I swear every time I find him on that thing, it looks like he's actually taking a pee....but he never has...he just likes Georgia to know that he's really in charge. ha!

I've captured several looks of contempt from the cats when they see her - they don't understand why we have this loud, playful thing that keeps getting bigger and bigger...and they REALLY don't like that she gets to go outside and they don't...I'm such a mean mommie...

We finally got our girl leash broken....she fights getting the leash put on - but once it's on, she's does awesome, and walks right beside me. In fact, this morning..instead of fighting getting up, I got up at 5:50am with her, strapped on my tennies, wrestled her until I got the leash hooked on, and we went for a nice long walk!
We're trying to wear her out so she'll sleep while we're gone...except it worked a little TOO well because when I got out of the shower, she was passed out on top of a pile of laundry. So I picked her up and plopped her into bed with the hubs...

(sorry for the poor quality, my flash was on the fritz - and she's so dark that I had to lighten it up to see her face - hee!)

She settled right in and fell asleep - and then shortly before I was going to leave, I was about to take her off the bed, but then she gave me this look

So of course I let her stay :)

4th of July was spent at the beach with family....the girls made a drip castle...

and I discovered what happens when you don't use the right setting on your camera and take a picture of fireworks...

Course, when I used the actual FIREWORKS setting - I discovered that either I was doing something wrong, or you have to be made out of cement so you don't move at all. Most of my pictures came out like this:

Am I crazy? Or does this one look just like a big bright dandelion?

On another note, I finished another puzzle. It was a huge one...and thanks to Tammi, I now know that it was of an actual place called the Kuekenhof Gardens in Holland instead of just PURTY FLOWERS like I thought...heh....so does anyone notice anything ODD and HIGHLY annoying about this puzzle???

Want a closer look???

yeah, I spent hours and hours on that flippin puzzle, and yet - the inevitable...a missing piece.

Time for some more cuteness??

Georgia was acting really ADD with her toys, and so hubs decided to pile them all around her...

Have a great weekend everybody!

Picture Friday..

Picture time...

Is this not the cutest picture of our Georgia EVER?

Growing tomatoes...

More Cuteness...

Beautiful Morning Glory's climbing over the fence from our neighbor's yard...

You KNOW you want more cuteness...

A REALLY FRICKIN HARD puzzle that I FINALLY completed after about 5 days of swearing over the flowers that ALL LOOK THE SAME....

My Bougainvilla's (don't give me crap about the spelling...I did my best) are finally blooming after a comeback of being neglected for ummm....about a year...

What's that?? You want more cuteness? Okay FINE...

I found our girl sleeping in our closet the other day....and do you see that...spot... on my slipper?

That would be DROOL...good ole PUPPY DROOL

That girl is just like her father :)

I heart Ceasar Millan

The Hubs and I have become obsessed with that show "The Dog Whisperer". Before we got Georgia, we never would have given that show a second thought - but now we watch it with eye-popping intensity. Seriously, over the weekend, we watched hours and hours of that show. It's almost like we think that if we watch a show on how to train dogs...that ours will magically become trained. Ceasar Millan - aka...the dog whisperer...has this thing that he does to let the dogs know he means business....he points his finger sternly, and makes this loud "SSSHHHH!" sound.
Except that when I do that to Georgia, she licks my finger...and wags her tail.
She think that hubs and I are just big giant toys that throw things for her and feed her once in a while. The boss in the house? That would be Tweak. My oldest and biggest alpha male cat. The other day I was in the bathroom scrubbing the sink, and Georgia was sitting the middle of the floor watching me trying to figure out what the heck I was doing and could we go OUTSIDE already? because there are sticks to bite out there!
Anyway, Tweak came cruising into the bathroom...walked right up next to Georgia, and glared at her. Georgia went scurrying over into the corner where she promptly laid down with her head on her paws. Tweak looked at me like "you two pushovers know NOTHING....see that? that's how it's done!"
and then proceeded to lay down all king-like in the exact spot where Georgia had been sitting. I swear, we should have named him Moustafa.

Yesterday, we finally got Georgia a harness so we can attempt to leash-break her. We tried the leash and collar thing and she just lays down and bites the crap out of it...she has no concept of walking with the leash yet. Aron (my puppy buddy and giver of good suggestions since she's got TWO wild ones at home) suggested the harness, so yesterday I marched outside with all my equipment in hand and treats in my pocket...determined to teach Georgia what the leash thing is all about.
As I was putting it on her, she flipped over and thought it would be a good time to get a belly scratching....it was kinda like putting a diaper on a kid who keeps rolling away...I needed about 5 arms to get the job done.
FINALLY, the harness was on...I attached the leash and we walked from one end of the yard to the other - her following me and prancing along...and I was SO HAPPY...I gave her a treat and praised her...and then we started back the other way. Which is when she looked at me like "what? you mean I have to do that again? I don't think so lady..."
I tried to sound all excited "Come on Georgia! Come on sweetie, let's WALK! You wanna WALK don't you??? We're gonna go on a WALK" -(which I should have known wouldn't work, because I got this image of the manager of my gym going "come on K! We're gonna hop on this treadmill! And go for a lovely walk! you wanna walk don't you???" - which is when in my dreamlike state, I slap her and drive to Taco Bell) I pulled out my treats and Georgia got a little more excited and followed me...now I must stop and explain here that Ceasar says that while walking your dog, you must walk with your shoulders back and your head high...so they know who's in charge. You must be the pack leader! So I'm walking along with my head held high and my boobs thrust forward...and then I feel a heavier weight at the end of the leash. I turn around while I'm walking, and Georgia has completely laid down and is letting me DRAG her across the grass. Her back feet are straight out...it's like she's gone boneless. Okay, Ceasar, what do I do now??
We tried a few more times, and it seemed like I was dragging her more than walking with her...I tried treats, I tried praise...but apparantly we got a lazy dog - because she just kept laying down and wanting to take a nap. She takes after her adopted father, that's for sure.
We're headed to the vet this afternoon to get her girly stitches taken out - and to get her next set of shots...here's hoping that maybe she'll get the hang of the whole leash thing once we start taking her to parks and public places. Otherwise, we might have to get hubs one of those baby bjorn things so she can go out with us in public. After all, she is HIS dog, right?

Announcement...

So Hubster and I (along with my pop's help) have been very busy these days...building and painting this:

(date is wrong by the way - good job pointing out the obvious K!)

Because we....K and Hubster...got ourselves a pooch!

Meet Georgia

She is a sweetheart - and LOVES to cuddle...and to sleep...as noted by the following:

(this is a terrible picture, but those back feet kill me!)

and of course...

She also likes water - which is why we bought her a kiddie pool of her very own...

After living with 9 (nine! that poor mom) other siblings, she was kinda stanky - we had dubbed her "puppy le pew" - so we put some shampoo on her...

and well - she didn't care for that...so we had to take her out and calm her down

She is such a good girl - and we are totally in love with her...be prepared for her to hijack my picture taking for a while :)

Be still my heart...

A few days ago, I received a phone call at work from a local "informant" (mom) who called to let me know that two of my sweet little nieces decided that they wanted to raise their very own money in order to buy a Father's Day present for their dad.
I was told they would have a little stand at the end of their driveway and she knew there would be rocks involved - and I should do my best to stop by and see what they had to offer :)
So during my lunch hour, cash in my pocket - I drove out to my brother's house in the country...and pulled up to their driveway, only to see this....

and this...

I told the girls that I was looking for special rocks to put in my garden, and Abby jumped up and shouted "We have some! You're our FIRST CUSTOMER!"

It was by far, the cutest thing I've ever seen...they were so creative...they were sitting there drawing special Father's Day Cards, so I of course bought one

Because how cool will be be for my own dad to get a card from his daughter MADE by his granddaughters? Very cool I'd say...

I also OF COURSE bought some beautiful rocks for my garden - since they'd worked so hard, and I love them - they are my favorite rocks..

They also made necklaces and since I've always wanted a lime green flowered necklace - I made an investment and sprung for one of those as well...

When I asked what they were trying to raise money for, Abby looked at me and said "The poor kids in the desert" - hee!

But then Keeley goes "No Abby....we're gonna by dad's present remember?"

and Abby goes "oh yeah...it's for dad! and the poor kids in the desert"

My goodness, do I love those girls!

Every time a car would drive up the road - my sister-in-law would yell "okay girls, look cute!"

I'm telling you, whatever they buy - even if it's crap...both Hubster and I agree that it'll probably be the most precious gift my brother will get this year...

Besides just having these 3 precious girls :)
