FYI

Cutting a newborn's fingernails?

Definately one of the "top five most terrifying experiences" in my life...
I held my breath the entire time.

Also, someone needs to figure out how to bottle freshly washed baby scent because I don't think there is a better smell on this planet. That stuff would sell like hotcakes!

Nail Clipping 101:
just bite them off, sounds sick, but it really is the easiest way. When they get older use the clippers (sit them in your lap facing out).
Ahhh...baby scent, I miss it terribly. I also miss baby breath, so sweet and clean.

No way I would stick Aubrey's fingers in my mouth and BITE off the nails. That seems more scary than clipping them. I agree... pretty nerve racking! They seriously wouldn't clip her nails in the hospital since it was too much liability. HELLO! They save babies lives but can't clip their finger nails? Odd! I've mastered it now, but gave up the baby clippers and use regular ones instead.

Try using a file while they are sleeping to trim those nails. The baby nails are so soft, the file does a pretty good job. It may take a little longer, but a lot less nerve wrecking.

I totally agree with Joanna. I still bite my one and a half year olds nails sometimes and I am a total germaphob! Biting is the only way to go when they are that young. The nails are so soft they just come right off. I also agree with missing the sweet smelling baby breath. One day he will wake up and you will say "Whoa!!! Where's the toothbrush?!"" Kelly's comment about not clipping nails in the hospital cracks me up! I didn't know they wouldn't do that!

Bite them off. Sounds gross, but you're a mom now...you'll do grosser.

If I could have, I would have had a nice stiff drink after I cut his fingernails the first time. Now? I do it while nursing. No biggie.

That smell? Pure Heaven.
